Attorney Michael D. Gelety has successfully researched, briefed and litigated Appeals around the State of Florida and around the country. He has personally argued cases before the Florida Supreme Court, as well as several State and United State Courts of Appeal including:

In most cases in which the ruling or decision of the trial Judge or the verdict of the jury is appealed to a higher court, the Court of Appeals (or in certain cases, the Supreme Court), writes an Opinion, explaining the Court's formal decision on the case with an analysis of the facts and the law supporting the decision. Often, particularly in Supreme Court and United States Court's of Appeal cases, these opinions refine, explain, and sometimes change the law in a particular area or application.

These Appellate Opinions become part of the Case Law throughout the entire State (and at times, throughout the entire country) -- interpreting and defining and distinguishing existing Statutes, Rules, and other earlier opinions, while acting as support for later opinions. These opinions are also quoted, cited, and relied upon in legal arguments, for or against a position or issue, in both trial courts (where the case is being litigated, argued, and eventually tried before a jury) and in the Courts of Appeal, (where a party, unhappy with the judge's ruling or the jury's verdict, seeks review in a higher court), i.e.: "the defendant cites the case of Jackson v. State, to support our position..." Michael Gelety has argued and been involved in over one hundred fifty (150) such Appellate Opinions, often making new law.

Attorney Gelety is in the unique and powerful position of often being able to cite and rely upon the Appellate Opinion in one or more of his own cases to support his arguments for a current client, in virtually any type of case (criminal, civil, administrative, post-conviction) and in any type of Court (Federal, State Circuit or County) or administrative venue:
